Our top tips for hair repair

April 20, 2020 by Fatal Attraction

We are missing you all so very much and while our doors may be closed, we are still here for you. Until we are able to welcome you back, here are our top hair care tips to help you through the lockdown.

We are all unique and so is our hair, however by using your hair’s natural oils you can transform its condition. This is a great opportunity to repair your hair, so why not give it a go.

The two main factors that damage our hair is shampooing and using heat.

1. Stop shampooing!

Shampoo takes the natural oils out of your hair.

2. Start brushing!

For a natural way to cleanse your hair, brush or comb between 100-200 times a day, ideally 100 times in the morning and again before you go to bed.

Brush recommendations

Depending on how thick/coarse or fine your hair is will depend on the type of comb or brush you will need to use:

• Very fine – fine soft bristle/ fine tooth comb

• Medium – medium bristle brush/fine/medium tooth comb

• Thick – coarse larger bristle brush/medium tooth comb

• Very coarse/afro – very coarse strong brush/wide tooth comb

The brush or comb needs to able to separate each strand, without pulling or stressing the hair, but able to distribute your natural oils from the roots, down through your hair to the ends.

3. Rinse wash only

Massage your scalp as vigorously as you would with shampoo, but without it and rinse well, as often as you like.

4. Continue the above steps for a minimum of 3 weeks

Most people will be able to see a change to the condition: bounce, fullness, shine, smoother/thicker (this may take longer for more coarse, dry or damaged hair).

5. Try to avoid using heat

Although you can continue to blow dry as and when you like, you will see quicker and better results by avoiding heat altogether.

6. Continue to use heat protect products when using heat

Styling products can be used but as times goes on you will need less to achieve better results than you did before! You can use water based products if needed but you will need less than normal, so be aware not to overload the hair, remember you are trying to give your hair time to repair!!

7. Styling

Rollers, rags, brushes and styling aids of all kinds are still ok to use, as these help with styling during the hair repair process.

8. Out the other side…. brings you naturally improved hair

In time you can add products and shampoo again, but hopefully not as much or as often and by using the correct products that we recommend for your hair type.

Take “before and after” photos, and share your success stories with us…

We have seen some amazing transformations and have many clients that have not needed to wash their hair so often by knowing what it needs. Best of all this process is free and 100% natural.
So what have you got to lose?  Hang on in there as good things come to those who wait!

If you need any further advice on haircare during the weeks ahead, you can email us at any time at info@fatalattractionhairdesign.co.uk – we’d love to hear from you.

We hope you’re keeping well

April 3, 2020 by Fatal Attraction

Thank you for all your wonderful messages of support and we hope you are keeping well during this difficult time.

With your appointment postponed and the weeks passing by, you may be tempted to cover hair regrowth using box dye. However our message to you is embrace your roots!

Please don’t use box dye and these are the reasons why…
1. We don’t want you to do something that you may regret later!
2. It could end up costing you a lot more to have it corrected.
3. Everything we choose for your hair is specifically for you.
4. We consider your natural level of “black, dark brown, blonde” and we choose the hydro peroxide to achieve the correct levels of lift and coverage of white hair.
5. There is an undertone to your hair that we either enhance or neutralise, and we don’t always use the chosen colour to achieve the chosen colour!

There’s a lot of science behind colouring hair and it takes 3 years just to learn the basics! This is literally touching the surface without going into hair type, texture, sensitivity and elasticity.

We can recommend color wow root touch up, which covers regrowth and grey hair. This is available online at Marks & Spencer for £28.50 plus delivery. As this is not a permanent colour, it washes out and will not cause damage to your hair. Alternatively a scarf or baseball cap can be worn as a quick cover up, so hang on in there, we’ll be here when this is all over!

To all of our gorgeous clients 💕 So many of you are asking us if you can colour your hair at home 🤷‍♀️ but most of you have blonde highlights, balayage, Scandi blonde etc so this isn’t something we would recommend as it would create damage to your hair. So here is a little video we have created on how to hide your roots… Because if you’re anything like @christellundqvist1 then you may not have had a chance to colour your roots before the salon closed! Hair accessories are the perfect alternative for times like these 💕💕
